Schaub Sails a Perfect Springfield

This weekend IBYC hosted their 56th Spring Regatta April 30-May 1, 2016. With a forecast of rain and winds of 20-30mph, only the hardiest C Sailors of the Midwest came to weather the storms & compete on Lake Springfield. Sailors came from Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois to enjoy sailing from the IBYC grounds. Having two hoists and a fully staffed yacht club at our service the hospitality of IBYC is hard to beat.

Saturday started out with rain and winds gusting over 30mph blowing straight into the yacht club harbor making it near impossible to safely launch and sail out. By lunchtime, the weather moderated and with a 130pm warning gun the race committee was able to complete three W-2 races, with winds 8-12 out of the ESE. Weather Sunday was much more cooperative! Two races with wind out of the N ranging 5-10. IBYC Spring Regatta Results

Competition was fierce, and the positions of the sailors changed continuously throughout the race. The SL-111 took the win […]
